PR Vlog #1: Our Week of Normalcy

by

The first week we arrived in Puerto Rico was consumed in acclimating and dealing with Hurricane Irma, so the week of September 11th (oddly enough) was our first “normal” week. We got into a rhythm, found our routine, figured out how life was going to work here and felt like we were flourishing. That is when I began vlogging. I was ready to get back into the swing of things after being here a week without working or Homeschooling at all. It felt good to be productive, while still fitting in the things we had come to love about Puerto Rico the most: the outdoors! Continue reading →

Puerto Rico Brings Out the Best In Us!

by

Last night we saw a huge moving truck driving into our parking lot. I went outside and saw that it belonged to a gentleman we had met when we were out here on vacation in May. They’re moving to Dallas by the end of the week. He said they’ve been here 9 months and just cannot handle it anymore. He has a job, but if he loses it he knows there is nothing else here for him. An update is well overdue! We have been in Puerto Rico for a week and a half and it has been quite eventful, to say the least. A few days after we got here, we learned of Hurricane Irma – “the strongest hurricane to ever form in the Atlantic.” It was a category 5 hurricane set to completely decimate Puerto Rico. They showed the eye of the storm passing right through the island, destroying everything in its path. That didn’t happen – thank God! I had such peace about it. I knew the Lord didn’t bring us here just in time to wipe us off the face of the planet. Continue reading →

Going Away Luau

by

So last weekend my family in Long Island (NY) threw me a Going Away Luau – which was totally sweet. I got to spend quality time with my step mom, siblings, nieces, and nephews for one last time before I leave – and they all promised to come visit me in Puerto Rico. I saw cousins I hadn’t seen in a while, and even my bestie traveled two hours from Norwalk, CT to celebrate with us. Pierre spent almost the entire time playing basketball with the guys, while the kiddos enjoyed a bouncy castle and running around with their cousins. Continue reading →
