My Experience with Grounding (Earthing)

I was a goodie two shoes growing up in the 80s. We watched a lot of sitcoms on television that dealt with children coming of age. Inevitably someone would lie to their parents, sneak out of the house, throw a wild party, or engage in some other act of defiance that would lead to these words:

You’re Grounded!

I always thought that was funny. Carribean parents never uttered those words. Forms of punishment in our culture are different. I enjoyed the interactions that took place between parents and children on those shows. Quite entertaining!

For this reason, my experience with the word “grounding” always meant trouble. Even when I started grounding myself and my children, they were a bit confused at what exactly was taking place. From their limited TV exposure, they’ve already developed a definition of grounding that was similar to mine.

However, the grounding I’m talking about is a fast-growing movement based on the discovery that connecting to the Earth’s natural energy is foundational for vibrant health. Continue reading →

The 30 in 30 Challenge

Have you ever gotten really excited about something, jumped into it with both feet and arms flailing in the air, splashed into the sea of possibilities, only to discover the water wasn’t as crystal clear as you imagined?  You waded around a bit, then got over it rather quickly as you let the waves carry you effortlessly back to shore.

Meanwhile others wet their toes in the proverbial ocean of disciplines and slowly make their way deeper until they are in over their heads.  You can’t even see them anymore.  They’re immersed. A yacht came to pick them up and is currently sailing them into the horizon as I type this. Continue reading →

Two Workout Apps for the All-or-Nothing Types

Let’s talk about workouts.  I’m by nature an all or nothing gal.  This is an awesome thing because when I get devoted to something I go all in.  It’s also a terrible thing because when I’m over it, there’s no trace of evidence that I ever participated.  Workouts are no different.  This has caused a lot of yo-yo exercise habits…but I think I just may have found a few things that will change all of that forever.   Continue reading →
