Over the summer I sat with a woman who had been in ministry for several decades. We were having a conversation about how difficult it is for older churches to attract the younger crowd, how they are dying out (literally) and becoming less relevant. They had hired a consultant for a hefty price to tell them how to get more people in their church. The person’s advice hadn’t worked. She was at a loss. I told her my vision, to unite the churches in my area so that it’s no longer about each one trying to survive on their own, but about all of us Christians coming together for the greater good. Good luck, she said. I knew it was a lofty goal, but something God had put on my heart nonetheless.
I no longer believe this concept is a pie in the sky, because I saw it on Friday night.
